About the book:

I invite you to read my book entitled "The Art of Making a Sketch. A Guide on How to Develop Skills in Artistic Drawing to Successfully Pass the Entrance Exam to an Art High School or an Academy of Fine Arts."

This book is a textbook. I dedicate it to artistically talented people who plan to take entrance exams to state art high schools or to the Academy of Fine Arts in Poland. In the book, I provide knowledge on how to learn to sketch. The ability to sketch is the basis for developing manual artistic skills. These, in turn, are necessary to pass the entrance exam to an art high school or an Academy of Fine Arts.

Every year, thousands of people in Poland take entrance exams to art schools. Most of these people are not adequately prepared for the entrance exams. Only a few pass them. This is because no subject in primary or secondary school prepares young people to take such exams. Children and young people are not even aware that art needs to be learned professionally.

In Poland, there are no textbooks describing the range of skills necessary to pass the entrance exam in art. This book fills this niche. The book is used for independent learning of making an artistic sketch. It consists of two parts. Part one consists of two theoretical chapters on techniques and methods of sketching, part two is a gallery of drawings - my authorship, with their descriptions (comments on them). In essence, this textbook is an album. Because art is best learned based on examples, they serve as inspiration.

I prepared the book as a artistic design. I designed it according to the golden ratio rule, common in book design in the past centuries. This graphic design perfectly reflects the spirit of the book, as its subject matter is the classical field of art: drawing.

The page's print area is marked by a frame with a red edge, and the area of ​​this frame is marked by the golden ratio, shown here by green lines. Of course, going outside the frame with parts of the project is not a mistake. What is important is consciously operating with the principles of design.
